Below is a general guideline of how St. Louis wedding receptions flow.
The actual order of events is always up to you. You may even choose to exclude some of the events
in your St. Louis reception. Your wedding reception should always be a unique reflection of the distinct personalities
of the bride and groom.
St. Louis Wedding Reception Order of Events
Cocktail Greeting

As your guests arrive we are there to greet them along with venue staff to make sure they are welcomed warmly, and allowed
to mingle and visit in a relaxed comfortable environment. During this time we will play cocktail music for your guests,
either jazz, big band, or other light romantic music of your choosing. Volume level is always
kept low so that your guests may carry on conversations and interact without obtrusive background music.
Grand Entrance

Whether you choose a grand entrance with lights and special effects to rival a Broadway opening,
or a more low-key sophisticated way to make your grand entrance into your reception,
this is the time to create energy in the room, and set the tone for your event.
We first introduce parents, grandparents if you choose, attendants, and the entire
bridal party into the reception hall. Our wedding MC has many years experience in bridal introductions and
reading crowds, and will create an energetic atmosphere to kick off your reception on a spirited fashion.

Wedding Toast

While the energy in the room is still high and all attention is on the head table, we will
ask the person (people) that you designate to make the toast to the bride and groom.
Sometimes the toast is done after the meal, but we have found that your guests are most
attentive immediately following the grand entrance. Of course the order of events is always up to you.
Blessing

Our MC will introduce the person you have chosen to give the blessing before the meal.
This can be a pastor, priest, family member, or our MC will be glad to offer the blessing if you choose.
We will supply a professional wireless microphone so that the blessing may be delivered from the head table,
or anywhere within the room.
Dinner

While you and your guests are enjoying dinner, we will play light dinner music at low volume levels, so that
guests may talk and enjoy the meal in a comfortable atmosphere. You may either choose your own
dinner music, or leave it up to our experienced DJ to choose appropriate song selections for dinner.
First Dance

Following dinner, everyone is anxious to get the dancing started, beginning with the bride and groom's
first dance together as husband and wife. This should be a song with special meaning for the couple,
chosen beforehand to create a nostalgic atmosphere for the rest of the evening.
Song suggestions for your first dance can be found on our St. Louis wedding DJ entertainment most requested page.
Special Dances

After the first dance with the bride and groom, other special dances for the bridal party,
parents, and any other designated parties will follow. There is no set way to do these dances.
Sometimes a couple will choose to include the bridal party for the second half of their first dance.
Sometimes the bridal party dance is a different song following the first dance. Again, there are no hard
and fast rules for special dances. This is all coordinated beforehand with our St. Louis wedding consultant.
Song suggestions for special dances can be found on our St. Louis wedding DJ entertainment most requested page.
Cake Cutting

Cutting of the cake may take place at any point of the night. Some couples choose to
cut the cake before dinner and have it served for dessert. Others choose to cut
the cake immediately following dinner and have it available throughout the evening. It is up to the bride and groom
as to when the cake cutting ceremony takes place.
Your DJ will play a special song of your choosing during the cake cutting ceremony.
Song suggestions for your cake cutting ceremony can be found on our St. Louis wedding DJ entertainment most requested page.
Garter/Bouquet Toss

Generally this is done after a few open dancing songs. Your MC will invite all of
the single ladies to the dance floor and announce the tossing of the bouquet. Then your MC
will invite all of the single guys to the middle of the dance floor and announce the tossing of the garter.
Both of these events are conducted while playing a special song of your choosing in the background.
Song suggestions for the garter toss and bouquet toss can be found on our St. Louis wedding DJ entertainment most requested page.
Last Dance

A few minutes before the scheduled ending time for your reception your MC will invite the bride and groom,
bridal party, and all guests to the dance floor to dance the final dance of the evening.
Song suggestions for the final dance can be found on our St. Louis wedding DJ entertainment most requested page.
* The order of events listed above may be altered in any way you choose, as your wedding reception
should be as unique as you are, and reflect your own special tastes and personalities.
